The Rare Raccoon Tail was originally released in June 2015 at Jam Mart Clothing. It was later re-released in August 2015.
Notice: Rare Raccoon Tails are commonly referred to as, "RC", "RC Tail", ''Raccoon'', or “Rare RC" by many Jammers as an abbreviation.
Notice: White-tipped and black-tipped Rare Raccoon Tails are commonly referred to as "White Tip" and "Black Tip" by many Jammers as an abbreviation.
Notice: This item has a Salesman Variant. Watch out for the differences - the original one will always have a "Rare!" tag.
Note: The white-tipped Rare Raccoon Tail's worth decreased due to AJHQ giving out many of them during their Instagram weekend contests, but is slowly gaining it’s worth back. The pink-and-purple Rare Raccoon Tails have also decreased in worth due to it being a prize for AJHQ's contests.
Note: Black-tipped Rare Raccoon Tails are currently being given away in AJHQ's latest instagram contest.

The Rare Raccoon Tail (Non-original) was a possible prize in 2017 from the Super Sweets Minigame during the Night of the Phantoms. It was released in two variants, Orange/Purple & Purple/Grey, as shown below.

Leilani
The Blue & Black Rare Raccoon Tail (Non-original) was one of the items obtainable by trading any of the original variants to Leilani in Moku'ahi. The Jamaaliday Raccoon Tail was one of the items obtainable by trading any Super Sweets 2017 variant to Leilani in Moku'ahi. The two deals were only available for 24 hours.

Other Variants
The Glitched Rare Raccoon Tail was given by AJHQ. Tíméthèskíès's white-tipped Rare Raccoon Tail got hacked and so she sent an email to AJHQ about it. AJHQ responded and gave her a new Rare Raccoon Tail. When Time got on her account, she realized that her item didn't look the same. She immediately contacted AJHQ and told them about her strange item. AJHQ responded saying that it was a mistake, but also that she could keep the item and that it was completely safe to trade for. Later, Time traded it to Maskeeno. On June 2, 2020, all the glitched/hacked items were reverted to their original variant, which means the Tan & Brown Rare Raccoon Tail became a white-tipped Rare Raccoon Tail.
